Thats right, you heard me...
Today we're going to talk about rituals. Sacred rituals and how you can make every day a ritual space of sacred and intentional practice. On full moons like this I smile to myself as people from all over stress to make an elaborate ritual or overdo the practice.
Don't get me wrong, if thats what works for you, then go for it. Some people are very ceremonial and that is fine.
As long as the intention is held at all times, then you do what you want.
But that's just it. so many people miss the point of ritual. And that is the intention. The tools of the ritual are just that, tools. They don't set intention for you, YOU DO. The tools of any ritual are there to support your physical implementation of your held intention.
When you're in your sacred kitchen, you intend on making a meal. So you use a frying pan or a baking sheet or a casserole dish. You use a spatula or a mixing spoon. You have ingredients ready on your counter. These are your tools in which you infuse your intention and manifest your outcome. Right there we just made the kitchen a sacred space.
When you're in the shower, your intention is to cleanse and purify. To refresh yourself. Your tools are shampoo and conditioner, a loofah perhaps, a bar of soap, a razor. Whatever else makes your experience refreshing and therapeutic. Your intention is manifested as soon as you step out of the bathroom. And your day carries on feeling refreshing too doesn't it?
Every day you brew a bot of coffee or tea, with what intention in mind? Waking up? Feeling at ease? Opening yourself up to your day? Awakening? Savoring and feeling pleasure of some kind? The intention is there, the intention manifests through the tools you use to brew your beverage.
Here are the key components to making your entire day feel sacred:
+ YOUR MORNING IS THE OPENING OF YOUR RITUAL +
Everyday is like the opening of a ritual. The drawing of a circle or sacred container. How you start your day is how you will carry your day if you choose to. So how do you want to start your day? What gets you going? Observe all the little habits and rituals you've fed in your morning that feed you back, and also take note of what DOES NOT feed you back anymore and omit it.
+ INTENTION IS POWER +
How do you want to feel today? Take note of that. Do you want to feel sexy? abundant? powerful? brave? energetic? Set the emotional intention for the day, as that is the fuel for everything else.
+ 30 SECOND CHECK-INS ALL DAY +
Throughout the day, be sure to check in with yourself mentally, emotionally and physically. Where are your thoughts? How are you feeling? What does your body feel like? Is this supporting your intention or not? What needs healing and what needs encouraging?
+ NOURISH THYSELF +
Make sure your intake of all forms of energy is nourishing you. Whether it be through food, relationships, conversations, sex, reading material, etc. Make sure its nourishing you. Whatever isn't, can it.
+ KNOW THYSELF +
Knowing yourself and admitting to who you are, what you like, what you don't like and more is really important when setting intentions and creating the sacred in everyday. Admitting your weaknesses and strengths, who you are and aren't, these are all so important in making your day truly yours.
+ ENERGY ZAPPERS & JUICERS +
Again, stemming from nourishment, take note of what zaps you and drains you of your energy and what juices you. This goes for food, reading material, people, etc. Omit whatever is draining you and give attention to what is juicing you and making you feel alive.
+ YOUR EVENING IS THE CLOSING OF YOUR RITUAL +
How you end your day will carry into how you wake up tomorrow. So if you end your day anxious and frustrated and go to bed like that, you're going to wake up feeling tired, no matter how many hours of sleep you get. So make sure your evening routine is easygoing, sensual, relaxing, and inviting you to relax and unwind. Keeping a notebook handy for dream journaling is also super effective and helpful.
So you see? Your day can and will be as sacred and magickal as you want to make it. Whether its a simple coffee and cigar that you look forward to at the beginning or end of your day or its a complete yoga class followed up with chai tea on the beach. Your rituals and daily habits are what feed your magick, your life force. So don't stress over doing them right, just get in tune with what is right for YOU and do that.
Have a great evening!
